Have you ever found yourself sitting at your desk, pondering over the existential question of what you’re truly meant to do in life?

The question is as daunting as it is important. In our society, we’re often preoccupied with the hustle and bustle of daily obligations, neglecting to ask what really matters: “What is my purpose?” This blog post aims to serve as your roadmap in navigating this pivotal question, marking it as the first vital step in redesigning your life. By delving into this topic, you’ll discover the compass you’ve been lacking, guiding you toward a life of deeper meaning and satisfaction.

Unlocking the Door to Your Soul’s Mission

1: The Intersection of Passion and Skills

One effective way to commence your journey in finding your purpose is by identifying where your passions intersect with your skills. Create a Venn diagram listing what you love doing and what you excel at; the overlap will give you a good indication of where your purpose may lie.

For instance, if you’re passionate about environmental conservation and have a knack for public speaking, perhaps your purpose involves advocacy or education in this area.

2: The Impact You Wish to Make

Your purpose often aligns with the impact you’d like to have on the world or the legacy you wish to leave behind. Ponder deeply on the changes you want to see, or the contributions you feel called to make. If your actions echo in eternity, what would the sound be?

A powerful exercise is to write your own eulogy. It sounds morbid, but it clarifies the long-term effects you wish to have on your community or even humanity as a whole.

3: Unearth Your Core Values

Your core values are the guiding principles that dictate your behaviour and action. Being aware of them is crucial in understanding what truly motivates you. Create a list of your core values and examine how they resonate with your daily actions and long-term goals.

If one of your core values is freedom, for example, a nine-to-five desk job might not align with your purpose, even if it pays well.

Having laid the foundation with these crucial aspects, let’s move on to how you can translate this newfound understanding into actionable steps toward redesigning your life.
